Texas Church Gunman Had Long Criminal History In Multiple States

The identity of the shooter behind the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas has been released and it is now known he has a long criminal history that stretches across several states.

Keith Thomas Kinnunen had charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2009 and theft of property in 2013 in Tarrant County. He was also arrested in September 2016 for possession of an illegal weapon in New Jersey, according to NBCDFW.

At the time of his arrest in New Jersey, Kinnunen also had a warrant for his arrest in Oklahoma for aggravated assault. Kinnunen killed two members of the West Freeway Church of Christ on Sunday before being killed by volunteer security guard Jack Wilson.

The gunman's criminal record would appear he was prohibited to be in possession of the shotgun he used in the attack.

Wilson, who was a reserve sheriff's deputy and a firearms instructor, took the gunman down with one shot from his SIG P229.

"I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today. The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exist and I had to take out an active shooter in church," Wilson wrote on his Facebook page.

"I’m thankful to GOD that I have been blessed with the ability and desire to serve him in the role of head of security at the church. I am very sad in the loss of two dear friends and brothers in CHRIST, but evil does exist in this world and I and other members are not going to allow evil to succeed," he added. "Please pray for all the members and their families in this time. Thank you for your prayers and understanding."
