Oh, Brother: Wasserman Schultz Argues Trump Is Working to Rig the Senate's Impeachment Trial

Former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) on Friday told CNN's Brianna Keilar she believes President Donald Trump is actively working to derail the Senate's impeachment trial.

"Now [Trump] is essentially coordinating with the Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, in the Senate to try to rig the outcome of a trial in which every single United States senator is supposed to -- will raise their hand, swear a hand of impartiality, and Mitch McConnell has already admitted he's going to violate that Oath," Wasserman Schultz explained.

According to the former DNC head, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is "correct" for withholding the articles of impeachment from the Senate until she's guaranteed a "fair trial."

"So, no question Speaker Pelosi is correct in how she's handling this," she said.

Let's step back for a second and review. Wasserman Schultz wants every senator to be impartial. She wants every senator to review the so-called "evidence" against the president and look at it from a nonpartisan manner.

Wasserman Schultz seems to forget something: Democrats ran their entire 2018 midterm elections on impeaching President Trump. We have senators – right now – on the campaign trial who have continually said the president should be impeached. Did she forget that Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Kamala Harris (D-CA) and others have continually said the president should be impeached? That's not being an impartial juror. That's not looking at this "evidence" and coming to a determination. That's making a decision based on partisan politics before the case even makes it to their chamber.

The Democrats have been nothing but unfair throughout this entire process. They announced their Impeachment inquiry the night before Trump released the transcript with his July 25th call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. They launched their inquiry and then weeks later went to the full House floor to vote on said inquiry. They've failed to let Republicans in the House call witnesses or issue subpoenas. But everyone is supposed to be impartial. Get real.
