Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was released from the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas on Friday. Sanders was hospitalized on Tuesday after having chest pain during a political fundraiser. During his hospitalization he had to have multiple stents placed to unclog an artery.
Sanders' doctor confirmed the senator had a heart attack.
“After presenting to an outside facility with chest pain, Sen. Sanders was diagnosed with a myocardial infarction," the doctor said.
The senator said he plans to "get back to work."
"I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center for the excellent care they provided," Sanders said in a statement released by his 2020 presidential campaign. "After two and a half days in the hospital, I feel great, and after taking a short time off, I look forward to getting back to work."

On Thursday, his wife, Jane, tweeted about the ordeal, saying her husband seemed to be in good spirits.

Sanders still plans to be at the Democratic debate scheduled for next week, on October 15th. His future campaign events, however, remain unknown at this time, ABC News reported.
