Mitch McConnell Fractured His Shoulder Sunday Morning

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) fractured a shoulder after tripping Sunday morning according to a statement from his Communications Director David Popp.

“This morning, Leader McConnell tripped at home on his outside patio and suffered a fractured shoulder. He has been treated, released, and is working from home in Louisville,” the statement explains.

“This afternoon he contacted Senators Cornyn and Portman to express his deepest sympathies for the people of El Paso and Dayton and discuss the senseless tragedies of this weekend.”

“The Leader will continue to work from home,” the statement notes.

According to Roll Call, McConnell “has long faced movement challenges, particularly with stairs, dating back to his childhood battle to overcome polio.”

Some Twitter users picked up on the news, writing “thoughts and prayers” in an apparently facetious jab.

In the wake of the recent mass shootings in Texas and Ohio the left has been calling for McConnell to convene the Senate in order to pass legislation.
