There are very few times when the leftist mainstream media actually does the right thing. But when they do decide to take the moral high ground, we need to give them credit when and where it's due.
CNN's Brian Stelter on Sunday condemned Antifa's attacks on journalist Andy Ngo.
"This is a protest that turned violent against a member of the media in Portland, Oregon this weekend. Conservative journalist Andy Ngo was out there covering rival protests on Saturday, Antifa on one side, right-wing figures on the other side but as demonstrations clashed, protestors – it appears to be Antifa protestors – then attacked Ngo. He's been out there in the past. He's been covering protests in Portland for quite some time," Stelter explained.
"His critics say he's there to cause trouble but that's unacceptable. The idea that he would be attacked and he would be bloodied in that way...unacceptable. Period," Stelter said. "And it's important we make that clear. Even left-wing critics who don't like him."
Even @MrAndyNgo's critics should have no trouble saying this: The assault against him was unacceptable. pic.twitter.com/VLKc4M0P05

Stelter's condemnation comes after lefties have come after Ngo for supposedly "provoking" Antifa protestors. These are just some of the things other so-called journalists are saying.

After relentlessly baiting and harassing antifa, far-right provocateur Andy Ngo finally got his wish of being milkshaked. Far-right simpletons like Tim Pool will milk this “victim” story for the next week at least. pic.twitter.com/7thyQ4wESk

Andy Ngo has raised almost $100,000 on his gofundme since yesterday. Ends up normalizing fascist propaganda and provoking antifa until they punch you is a pretty lucrative gig. pic.twitter.com/iLE7NLLV23

"Provoking" Antifa? Seriously? Since when is recording and reporting what a group is doing "provoking" them?
Andy Ngo is someone who antagonizes those he knows will react in a disproportionate way and this exact outcome was inevitable. Everyone knew it.

Those who assaulted him, however, are the ones at fault here. https://t.co/CKyYzxdESh
If/when shit like this is used to paint an entire movement or side as wholly violent, be sure to pat the aggressors here on the back.

When people associated with this group repeatedly attack others at "rallies" and "protests" across the country, it's pretty fair to label an entire movement as violent.
I don't condone violence and I don't like to see anyone hurt. But Andy Ngo is as much a journalist as I am a second baseman.

And let me make this clear - even when I last played organized baseball (when I was 13) I didn't play second.

THAT is how much Andy Ngo is not a journalist.
Some of you have the reading comprehension of a tissue and the integrity of a wet tissue.

I am anti-violence. I’m also anti-lying muckrakers. I can be both.
Now, stop pretending you suddenly care about diversity, inclusion, or free press. Your timelines betray you.
Regardless of what you think of a person, their political beliefs or their "legitimacy" as a journalist, no one deserves to be beaten to pulp. No one.
Stelter did the right thing by condemning what happened.
