House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is among the number of lawmakers appalled by President Trump's recent interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos. Trump told the anchor that if he was offered information on an opponent by a foreign power, he would want to look at it and may or may not call the FBI. To some, including leading Democrats like Pelosi, Trump admitted that he would allow more interference in our elections.
Trump has once again showed us, "he does not know right from wrong,” Pelosi said at a Thursday press conference.

The speaker then shared what she thought was a good example by way of contrast. In 2000, as Al Gore and George W. Bush were preparing for a presidential debate, a friend of Gore's, former Rep. Tom Downey, was playing Bush in their debate prep. During the practice, somebody handed them the secret debate plans of the Bush campaign.
"Downey picked it up and sent it to the FBI," Pelosi shared. "This isn’t even foreign government. There is a sense of decency about fruit from the forbidden tree."
She wondered how much more Republicans will be willing to bear of Trump’s "unethical behavior," before musing that "it’s all about money."
Still, Pelosi stopped short of saying Trump's remarks justified impeachment.
