ORIGINAL POST

Around 5 p.m. EST a gunman opened fire at two cookouts in Baltimore's west side. Six people were injured and one died.

According to authorities, it appears that one person was targeted, although they're unsure if the two shootings are connected.

The person who was was killed collapsed in front of the Perkins Square Baptist Church, just down the street from where the shooting took place, NBC 4 reported.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said the shooter "began firing indiscriminately into the crowd, striking a number of people."

Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the shooter. They believe a second person may have had a gun and returned fire on the shooter based on the shell casings' location, the Associated Press reported.

"We know that many people were out here," Harrison said. "It is only with the community's help that we will be able to identify those responsible."
