Although the contents of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report have not been released, Lefties, including MSNBC's Joy Reid, are convinced the Department of Justice is "covering up" for President Donald Trump. They have come to this conclusion because Mueller is not indicting anyone else, including Trump.
The reason Reid believes a cover-up is taking place? Because the Justice Department ran the investigation.
“The fact that this investigation takes place within the Justice Department which Donald Trump essentially controls and that he got rid of the problem, Jeff Sessions, who the one decent thing that he did was just recuse himself, this guy is not recused, it feels like the seeds of a cover-up are here,” Reid said.
Reid believes a more "independent" investigation would take place if Congress had control over the probe.
Malcolm Nance, the Executive Director of the Terror Asymmetrics Project, disagreed with Reid, saying if Barr tried to cover-up for Trump that there would, undoubtedly, be a leak.

“Well, I mean, theoretically it could happen, right? These are humans. They are all fallible maybe he does feel some sort of loyalty to him," Nance explained. "Bill Barr is one guy. There are secretaries. There are people who have to handle these documents. There are the FBI agents who did this themselves. I don’t think that there’s room for a cover-up because why cover up the greatest scandal in the history of the United States – with the greatest scandal in the history of the United States – an attorney general trying to engineer that. I don’t believe that’s going to happen because if they do, then you can just see copies of this thing falling out by the pallet load in front of The Washington Post.”
At least Nance made some sense.
But this whole conversation brings about a few questions:
When we finally know what's in the Mueller report, what kind of modifiers are Democrats going to push?
Are they going to continue to say a cover-up is taking place because President Trump isn't being indicted?
Are they going to say Congress should have run the investigation so things were more "transparent?"
Mueller's report, which was just about two years in the making, could vindicate Trump and his team and Democrats would still not accept that no wrongdoing was found. It's because they went into this investigation with the theory that Trump is guilty until proved innocent. Or in their minds forever guilty.
