Wait–Liberal Magazine Thinks Only Conservative Get Angry Over Anti-Semitism?
Over the Christmas holiday, NBA super star LeBron James posted an unfortunate Instagram post where he quoted lyrics from hip-hop artist 21 Savage referencing “Jewish money.” LeBron said it was a mistake, he apologized, and the NBA isn’t going to take disciplinary actions (via CBS News):
LeBron James apologized Sunday for an Instagram post in which he quoted a 21 Savage lyric referencing "Jewish money." James received backlash for choosing to share that part of the song and offered an apology after the Lakers' loss to the Grizzlies.
"Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone," James told ESPN after the game. "That's not why I chose to share that lyric. I always [post lyrics]. That's what I do. I ride in my car, I listen to great music, and that was the byproduct of it. So I actually thought it was a compliment, and obviously it wasn't through the lens of a lot of people. My apologies. It definitely was not the intent, obviously, to hurt anybody."
Still, the headline for Newsweek overt his incident was…interesting to say the least: “LeBron James Posts ‘Jewish Money’ Selfie With 21 Savage Rap Lyrics, Angering Conservative Critics.” So, anti-Semitism angers only conservatives?
James' millions of supporters ridiculed the anti-Semitic insinuation from his critics and a social media debate ensued over whether someone posting song lyrics can be held accountable for simply sharing the words. James' critics noted the prevalence of Jewish owners in the NBA and NFL. In 2014, James weighed in on racist audio that surfaced from former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who is Jewish, in which Sterling railed against black players. "There's no room for Donald Sterling in the NBA -- there is no room for him," the then-Miami Heat player said.
Well, of course, his supporters won’t trash him. Second, the Sterling situation was entirely different as well. We won’t rehash it here. You can debate among yourselves about that incident. The liberal media never ceases to amaze, but for a liberal magazine to say that only conservatives can be troubled by anti-Semitism is one of those instances where one can be totally surprised, but then again not at all.
Yes, only 'conservative critics' get upset at anti-Semitism. https://t.co/6UY6zlpyqg
