The race was one that caught the attention of outside spenders and influencers, including Donald Trump Jr, who campaigning for Tenney on Monday, and President Trump, who tweeted his support of her this week as well.
“I need @claudiatenney of #NY22 to be re-elected in order to get our big plans moving. Her opponent would be a disaster,” Trump tweeted on Monday. “Nobody works harder than Claudia, and she is a producer. I look forward to working together with her - she has my Strongest Endorsement! Vote Claudia!”

Still, it wasn’t enough for the district’s voters, who resonated with Brindisi’s focus on health care during his campaign, as well as on strengthening the middle class, supporting universal gun background checks, pushing back against attempts to privatize the public education system, and supporting Planned Parenthood.
"Health care is important I want to people to know that I'm going to make sure I stand up and protect people with pre -existing conditions focusing on preserving and protecting Social Security and Medicare focusing on the this opioid crisis,” Brindisi said.
