Haiti Slams Trump, Demands Explanation Over 'Sh*thole' Comment

President Trump is facing bipartisan criticism for wondering why the United States is letting in “all these people from sh*thole countries,” and now, Haiti is demanding an explanation.

Haiti’s ambassador to the U.S., for example, wants a Trump administration official to comment on the president's remarks, which he believes are an “assault” on the Haitian people.

Ambassador Paul Altidor told journalist Yamiche Alcindor that “he and the Haitian government ‘vehemently condemn’ President Trump’s comments which they believe are ‘based on stereotypes,’” he told her. “Either the president has been misinformed or he is miseducated,” he added.

Altidor also recalled the nation’s longstanding relationship with the U.S., going as far back as Haiti’s soldiers fighting alongside Americans during the Revolutionary War.

Trump’s comments were directed at Haiti, Honduras, El Salvador, and some African countries during the bipartisan discussions on immigration.
