Trump Tells Congress Again: Terminate the Diversity Visa Program, Now

Speaking at the White House Thursday before a round table discussion with GOP lawmakers about tax reform, President Trump again called on Congress to immediately end the Diversity Visa Program.

"Following the terrorist attack in New York, I'm calling on Congress to immediately terminate the Diversity Visa Lottery Program. It's a disaster for our country," Trump said.

Yesterday the President initially called on Congress to end the program.

"I am today starting the process of terminating the Diversity Lottery Program. I’m going to ask Congress to immediately initiate or get rid of this program," Trump said. "'Diversity lottery.' Sounds nice. It's not nice. It's not good. It hasn't been good."

"We will take all necessary steps to protect our people," he continued. "We're going to get rid of this lottery program as soon as possible."
