Is This the Cringiest Campaign Ad of All Time?

Dan Helmer is running as a Democrat to represent Virginia's 10th Congressional District, and man did he come out with a doozy of a campaign ad. Brace yourself for..."The Helmer Zone." In the ad, which takes place at a bar, Helmer portrays incumbent Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) as someone who refuses to meet with her constituents, before breaking out into a bad parody of "Lost That Loving Feeling" from the movie Top Gun.

Just watch: I honestly can't decide if this is "awesomely bad" or just regular old "bad."

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the ad was panned by just about everyone.

I mean, yikes. I mean, the "VETERAN" shirt is a nice touch, but golly, this campaign ad is basically a 108 second-long train wreck. Who thought this was a good idea? Is this a mole from the Comstock campaign? Either way, this isn't a great way to burst on to the electoral scene.
