Less than a week after announcing that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is back in the Senate on Tuesday to vote on health care reform and defense spending. McCain announced on Monday evening that he would be making a return to the Senate the next day.

Washington, D.C. – The office of Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement today:
“Senator McCain looks forward to returning to the United States Senate tomorrow to continue working on important legislation, including health care reform, the National Defense Authorization Act, and new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea.”
Although there was an extremely touching, bipartisan, show of support for McCain in the days following his diagnosis, that feeling has effectively vanished and we're back to partisan bickering on Twitter and accusing an ailing senator of wanting to strip people of their health care.

While McCain's dedication is admirable, commentator Charles Krauthammer raised concerns that airline travel may not be the smartest decision for someone who has just undergone surgery. Instead, Krauthammer said that McCain should cast his vote via a proxy.
