State Representative Apologizes After Threatening to Make Trump a "Half-Term President"

A Maine State Representative has apologized after he posted a long-winded Facebook rant that, among other things, threatened to make President Donald Trump a "half-term president" if he were "within 10 feet of that p-ssy." Rep. Scott Hamann (D-South Portland) said that he thought that Trump supporters were "destroying America," and that they were "dumb f-cks." Additionally, he said that thought President Trump is a "complete loser" who was "installed by the Russians," as well as an "admitted rapist."

The Maine GOP tweeted out a screenshot of the unedited post, which contains several profanities. The Maine GOP called the comments "unhinged and dangerous." (The unedited post is shown below.)

“Well then f-ck you, snowflake. You’re a f-cking p-ssy. And you people are destroying America. 100% of intelligent Americans agree that Trump is a complete loser. But go back to clinging to your guns because you’re afraid. P-ssy. See, it’s not only Trump supporters who can talk like complete a--holes. As long as that’s what’s coming out of that side, then I’ll match you dumb f-cks word for word. Trump is a half term president, at most, especially if I ever get within 10 feet of that p-ssy.”

In his apology, Hamann said that he was "aggressively sarcastic" in posting on a childhood friend's page, and he said that he regretted making the comment. He explained that he does not normally use that sort of language, and that he was attempting to "make a visceral point" about political discourse in the country.

"Aggressive sarcasm" or not, this language and rhetoric is completley inappropriate for anyone, never mind an elected offical. It's also not cool to effectively threaten to kill a president, regardless of which political party they represent. It's been nearly seven months since Trump was inaugurated. He's not going away any time soon, and this is getting exhausting.
