One of the more brutal forms of abortion is the dilation and evacuation (D&E) procedure. Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently outlawed this abortion method statewide.
The procedure is performed in the first 24 weeks of the pregnancy. It consists of draining the amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus with suction, and then proceeding to tear off limbs with a sopher clamp. Texas is only the 8th state to outlaw dilation and evacuation abortions.
This gruesome procedure is essentially a partial birth abortion, which is a practice that former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has repeatedly defended on the basis of life of the mother, and voted as such during her tenure in the Senate. Although the life of the mother exception is common and considerable to most in abortion discussions, and a popular justification by the Left, evidence suggests that the vast majority of partial birth and D&E abortions are obtained by women who cannot make a firm decision until late in the pregnancy about whether or not to abort their baby. There has been no health circumstance that may occur on the mother’s front that has been proven to merit a D&E or partial birth abortion.
