Retired neurosurgeon (and former presidential candidate) Ben Carson has reportedly been offered the position of Housing and Urban Development Secretary in the incoming Trump administration. The report is raising some eyebrows, considering last week Carson rejected any kind of position in the cabinet, particularly the titles of education or HHS secretary, with his campaign citing Carson's lack of political experience.
Yet, on Wednesday morning it appears he's changed his mind. Carson, who grew up in the inner cities, is well versed on the issues that plague many of these struggling communities. Judging by what he told Fox News' Neil Cavuto Tuesday night, he also has the passion needed to take on the challenge.
"I grew up in the inner city," he said, "and have spent a lot of time there and have dealt with a lot of patients from that area and recognize that we cannot have a strong nation if we have have weak inner cities, and we have to get beyond the promises and start really doing something."
Dr. Carson said he will be taking part of the holidays to think and pray about the offer.
