Donald Trump is facing a flurry of sexual assault allegations on Thursday after the unearthing of an 11-year-old audio that caught him bragging about trying to have sex with a married women. At the second presidential debate on Sunday in St. Louis, Trump told the American people that it was only words, he never actually tried to make such aggressive sexual advances on women.
Yet, The New York Times has found two women who say he actually did. In a new report that dropped Wednesday night, the women insist they were assaulted by the GOP nominee. Then, several other outlets followed suit, providing their own, including People Magazine and Yahoo! News.
Trump has denied these reports and is threatening the Times with a lawsuit and demanding a retraction.
"Your article is reckless, defamatory and constitutes libel per se," Marc E. Kasowitz, a lawyer representing Trump, wrote in an open letter to Times executive editor Dean Baquet. "We hereby demand that you immediately cease any further publication of this article, remove it from your website and issue a full and immediate retraction and apology. Failure to do so will leave my client with no option but to purse all available actions and remedies."
Obviously, the timing is a little suspicious. Just how hard did the Times reporters search to find women who could tell a story that matched what Trump described in that shocking audio recording? If it is in fact true, well, that's a whole other story.
