The Democratic National Committee has released a statement mourning the loss of staffer Seth Rich. Rich, 27, was shot several times in his NW DC neighborhood early Monday morning and passed away later at a hospital. There were no witnesses to the shooting.
In the statement, the DNC mourned a "dedicated, selfless public servant" who worked to protect voting rights. Rich was the voter expansion data director.
“Our hearts are broken with the loss of one of our DNC family members over the weekend. Seth Rich was a dedicated, selfless public servant who worked tirelessly to protect the most sacred right we share as Americans — the right to vote,” she said in a prepared statement. “He saw the great potential of our nation and believed that, together, we can make the world a better place. He was a joy to have as a member of our team, and his talents, intelligence and enthusiasm will be deeply missed by the many friends, colleagues and coworkers who worked by his side in service to the highest ideals of our democracy.”
A reward of $25,000 has been offered for information about the shooting.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Seth's loved ones at this unspeakably awful time.
