GOP Senator: Trump's Judge Comment Could Result in Convention Challenge

We know by now that even Republicans are not happy with Donald Trump's wanting to remove Judge Gonzalo Curiel from the Trump University case because he is Mexican. House Speaker Paul Ryan said the remarks were racist, while Newt Gingrich, who until now had been one of the presumptive GOP nominee's biggest supporters, said it was the worst mistake Trump's made so far on the campaign trail and that the comment was "inexcusable." Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), whose Trump endorsement was short-lived, told his fellow Republicans that they should start un-endorsing him.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) just took it up a notch, however, by suggesting that Trump's remarks could result in someone stepping up to challenge him at the RNC convention.

"Where there's no talk of a convention challenge or anything else, this might spur it," Flake said on Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

Could this be true? Could the GOP be so disenchanted with its outspoken and controversial candidate that an effort to remove him could be in the works?

If so, expect plenty of fireworks in Cleveland next month.
