Rubio: I Am Not Dropping Out

During Fox News’ town hall with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in Hialeah, Florida, the senator vociferously refuted any rumors that he was going to drop out of the race anytime soon, saying he’s fighting all the way through–and that he would win Florida.

Host Megyn Kelly listed off a series of polls, which spelled nothing but certain defeat for Rubio against Donald Trump, but Rubio was unfazed. He mentioned that the polls were inaccurate, adding that the only poll that matters is the one taken during Election Day.

As for the intrigue regarding Gov. Jeb Bush’s conversations with Rubio, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the Florida senator remained silent on the subject, but did acknowledge that he has spoke with Bush many times over the course of the campaign. At the same time, he added that he doesn’t disclose private conversations. Rubio did say that he would love to have Jeb’s support, but the discussion was mostly grounded in what is fostered during a long-term friendship.

Kelly then asked Rubio about a unity ticket between him and Ted Cruz. Rubio said that this drama certainly makes the race more interesting, but such schemes rarely work. He added that in the end, we’re all going to be on the same team to defeat Hillary Clinton and the Democrats in November. For now, he’s here to give it his all in winning Florida next Tuesday.

Asked if he falls short in that goal, Rubio said that it would certainly be a bad night, but added that the Republican nominee has to win Florida, which is why he’s going to do everything he can to win his home state between now and March 15.
