Iowa Caucusgoers Not Impressed With Cruz Mailer: 'Lowball,' 'Uncessary'

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa caucus goers get a lot of mail. I mean, a lot. One attendee at the Precinct 313 caucus told me she left for a 3-hour event one day and came home to a full voicemail. Candidates are hounding the state for every vote they can find.

One candidate in particular, Ted Cruz, has been criticized for his latest get out the vote effort. Matt wrote about how a new report card mailer seemed to shame Iowans into voting, noting a lack of participation.

One caucus goer called the mailer “lowball.”

Another attendee, Kelly Weber of West Des Moines, who said she is caucusing for Cruz, was also unimpressed with his campaign’s latest effort and said it will only serve as fuel for his opponents’ fire.

“It wasn’t necessary,” Weber said. “His opponents are trying to take advantage of it.”

Other Iowans, however, saw nothing wrong with Cruz’s campaign.

“It’s a truth,” said Renee Hahn. “It’s a shame if you don’t vote then complain.”
