As airports, roads, and public transit have all been closed or delayed, the U.S. House of Representatives is also taking part in the winter hiatus. A memo from the House majority leader states that the House will not resume session until next week.
According to the Washington Examiner:
The House of Representatives will not be voting on any bills this week because of the massive snowstorm that hit the D.C. metro region this weekend.
In a memo from the House majority leader, members have been advised that due to the severity of the weather and the poor travel conditions, previously scheduled votes on Tuesday, Jan. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 27, have been postponed. The next votes are now scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1.
Also postponed is the consideration of two pieces of legislation: H.R. 3662, the "Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act" and the veto message on H.R. 3762, "Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Act," a bill that would dismantle Obamacare and cut Planned Parenthood funding.
Maybe the looming Iowa caucus has a part to play in this decision.
