New Record--Over 23 Million Background Checks for Gun Purchases Last Year

In 2015, Americans set a new record with 23,141,970 requests to purchase firearms with the federal government's permission.  That averages out to be over 63,000 background checks per day.

December of last year saw the highest amount of background checks in one month, according to the FBI, which is more than the agency has seen since the process was created back in 1998.

This news is significant in regards to Obama’s planned town hall meeting with CNN on Thursday to explain his executive order on gun control.

With more Americans buying firearms now than ever, it is clear that there is serious distrust in the government infrastructure and its ability to keep Americans safe.
