Meet Jerry from Marion, Arkansas. He’s the subject of a new Koch Brothers-funded Americans for Prosperity (AFP) anti-Obamacare ad. Jerry recently found out that his health insurance was cancelled, but due to the law’s uncertainty, is unsure whether or not that’s actually true.
“It’s like living in a haze,” he said. “You don’t know whether you’re going to have insurance or whether you’re going to be able to afford your insurance. It was taken away from us, or it was given back to us, or it was taken -- we don’t know what it’s been now.”
The president -- as well as many Senate Democrats, including Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR) -- promised that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” Of course, millions of families have lost their coverage, but Jerry finds himself in a truly awful and undesirable position: he doesn’t know if he’s covered. He thus accuses Sen. Pryor of being unresponsive to his constituents’ concerns, criticizing him for voting for a law that is devastating Arkansas families. As it happens, the spot will run on television airwaves starting today for a period of 21 days, and bring AFP’s total spending in the state to almost $2 million, according to ABC News.
