Last night Lila Rose, President of the pro-life Live Action investigative organization, appeared on CNN's Crossfire to debate NARAL President Ilyse Hogue over the issue of abortion. The discussion got particularly heated surrounding the issue of rape and abortion when Rose argued abortion after rape only places further violence on a woman.
“Abortion doesn’t un-rape a woman,” Rose argued. “An abortion just adds more violence on top of that first violence that she endured.”
In return, Hogue argued that because we live in America the privacy rights of women cannot be violated by those who oppose abortion.
"That’s what religious liberty is about. It’s about you getting to choose what would be right for you in that circumstance, but I don’t get to tell you what to do and you don’t get to tell me what to do,” Hogue said.
When Rose started to discuss fetal development in the earliest stages of life, including a heart beat at 3 and a half weeks in some cases, guest host Sally Kohn quickly stopped her by saying, "We aren't going to get into that now."
Yesterday, hundreds of thousands of people braved bitter cold to take part in the annual March for Life. More than 56 million abortions have been performed since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.
