Why else travel to Iowa in an off-election year if she wasn’t at least interested in testing the waters?
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is heading to Iowa.
Palin will speak at a fundraiser for the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition, a powerful group of religious conservatives in the state, according to the Des Moines Register.
The early November event will be Palin's latest step back into the spotlight, following a major role in this past weekend's Tea Party protest against the closure of the national monuments. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), a leading force in the current fight over the government shutdown and defunding ObamaCare, will headline the event.
Palin has worked hard to keep up her national profile, and visits to Iowa always spark buzz about potential presidential runs. The Fox News commentator, former governor and vice presidential candidate may be more interested in promoting her upcoming book, however.
It's possible. Her new book reportedly comes out next month. So attending a fundraiser in Iowa might not be the worst way to generate publicity for it. On the other hand, the former Alaska governor has hardly kept a low-profile spending her days in solitude writing books all day. She recently traveled to New Jersey to endorse Steve Lonegan, the Republican candidate now running for a U.S. Senate seat in New Jersey -- and led a protest on the National Mall this past weekend. She also appears regularly on the Fox News Channel as a paid contributor. So perhaps she really is laying the groundwork for a presidential run? We'll see.
