CBS Legal Executive: No Sympathy For Las Vegas Victims Because Country Music Fans Are Republican; UPDATE: Fired

UPDATE: Via Christine, She's gone:

CBS has fired an executive after her insensitive comments about Sunday night's mass shooting in Las Vegas went viral. According to her Facebook page, Geftman-Gold was the VP Senior Counsel, Strategic Transactions at CBS. The page has since been deleted.

Here's CBS' statement via Fox News:

This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS spokeswoman told Fox News.

The shooting in Las Vegas is horrific. It’s the worst mass shooting in American history, with 58 dead and 515 injured. Sixty-four-year old Stephen Paddock checked into the Mandalay Bay Hotel, went to the 32nd floor, and proceeded to fire upon the 22,000 concertgoers who were below at a music festival. The festival was concluding with country music star Jason Aldean when Paddock opened fire. Some thought it was fireworks, so reactions were delayed—but the footage of attendees taking cover, fleeing for their lives is harrowing. The country should come together, mourn, and condemn this heinous act. That’s probably not going to happen. It’s the era of everything is political. And for Hayley Geftman-Gold, a legal executive at CBS, she has zero sympathy for the Las Vegas shooting victims because they’re country music fans, and that means they’re Republican. She made those feelings known on Facebook, which was reported by the Daily Caller:

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” wrote Geftman-Gold on Facebook, perhaps referring to Sandy Hook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”

The original thread was deleted, but not by Geftman-Gold.

CBS did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation for comment.

First of all, that’s not true. Toby Keith is a Democrat. Second, and most importantly, this is wholly irrelevant. People died. Does it really mattered how they vote because I’m pretty sure for the families of the 58 who were killed and the 500+ who were injured aren’t really thinking about gun politics right now. The only people who are obsessed with this are Democrats and people like Geftman-Gold—absolutely disgraceful.
