Last week, Townhall covered how a new poll found that the majority of Hispanic voters said President Joe Biden’s usage of the term “illegal immigrant” in his State of the Union address was appropriate. This came after Democrats like Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) came out against Biden using the word.
Biden’s remark was used to describe Laken Riley’s alleged killer. To recap, on Feb. 22, Riley left her home to go for a jog at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens. She never returned home. After she was reported missing, her body was discovered by UGA police. Her death was caused by blunt force trauma, the Athens-Clarke County Coroner said. Shortly after, an illegal alien was arrested in connection with her death.
Riley’s death, along with many other crimes, have been traced to illegal immigrants who made their way into the U.S. under Biden’s leadership. A new poll from the Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs found that 68 percent of Americans disapprove of how Biden is handling illegal immigration. Only 31 percent approve, which includes 56 percent of Democrats.

Furthermore, 79 percent of Republicans, 54 percent of Democrats, and 56 percent of independents support hiring more border patrol agents. Adding more immigration judges and courts is supported among Republicans (60 percent) and Democrats (65 percent), as well.

In the findings, 58 percent of American adults rank immigration as an “extremely” or “very important” issue to them personally. This includes 75 percent of Republicans, 52 percent of independents and 46 percent of Democrats. The results show the economy as a top issue for most adults.
Overall, 62 percent of adults said that illegal immigrants have had a “major impact” on the country. When asked about their community, specifically, only 29 percent said that illegal immigrants have made a “major impact.”
