President Donald Trump and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) aren’t exactly on the best of terms. Trump has long mocked her as “Pocahontas,” including during his joint address to Congress earlier this year, over her claims of Native American ancestry. Besides the personal jabs, as a progressive Democrat from Massachusetts, there’s not much common ground between the two. But on Wednesday, Trump said he was “very pleased to announce” one issue he agrees with her about.

"I am very pleased to announce that, after all of these years, I agree with Senator Elizabeth Warren on SOMETHING," he wrote on Truth Social. "The Debt Limit should be entirely scrapped to prevent an Economic catastrophe. It is too devastating to be put in the hands of political people that may want to use it despite the horrendous effect it could have on our Country and, indirectly, even the World. As to Senator Warren’s second statement on the $4 Trillion Dollars, I like that also, but it would have to be done over a period of time, as short as possible. Let’s get together, Republican and Democrat, and DO THIS!"

Trump’s comment was in response to Warren sharing a clip of him saying the two found common ground on the debt limit.

“She wanted to see it terminated, gotten rid of, not being voted on every five years or 10 years, and the reason was because it’s so catastrophic for our country,” Trump said at a press conference last week, referring to Warren’s support for abolishing the debt limit.

The Trump-backed Big, Beautiful Bill calls for raising the debt ceiling by $4 trillion, which has been a sticking point for Republicans like Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

On Wednesday, Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought said Trump still thinks the debt extension should be part of the BBB but wants to consider its elimination in the future.

“He thinks it’s very important that the debt extension be a part of this bill,” Vought told reporters, according to POLITICO. “I think he’s also just trying to articulate the fact that, from a philosophical standpoint, there should be support on a bipartisan basis to reflect on the fact that this tool provides way too much leverage for an opposing party or minority to hold hostage an administration that is trying to do big things for the American people.”
