The Left is very good at supporting two contradictory things and pretending they're ideologically and morally consistent. We see it every time the Left insists on upending the Second Amendment to "save one life" but turns a blind eye to releasing violent criminals — illegal aliens and otherwise — who go on to rob rape and murder. Or every time they insist something is a right (e.g. healthcare) only for them to turn around and deny it to people who are, say, unvaccinated.

But no where is that more apparent than in their support of the trans movement. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez illustrated that perfectly with her recent remarks at the More Perfect University event a few weeks ago.

And the part of her remarks that deserve attention isn't the "I'm a girl's girl" line, either.

"I don't support the rights of trans people just to protect my own rights," she said. "But I support the rights of trans women because I'm a girl's girl. And I think that all of our bodily autonomy is tied together. The right to choose over our bodies is the right to choose over our bodies."

That's the contradiction here.

The trans movement — especially trans women (read: MEN) — is diametrically opposed to the concept of women's bodily autonomy and our right to choose over our bodies. As a woman, if I were to go to the Planet Fitness near my house, I wouldn't have the bodily autonomy to not undress in front of a man. The same thing applies in other locker rooms, bathrooms, and similar facilities across the country.

College athletes have been forced to undress in front of fully-intact males who claim they're women, as have middle school girls.

Sherrie Laurie, the Alaska woman who fought for years to protect Anchorage's Downtown Hope Center as a women-only space, made sure the victims in the shelter had the bodily autonomy to stay away from men after a male showed up at the shelter, intoxicated and agitated. The Anchorage Equal Rights Commission didn't believe those women had bodily autonomy.

In the darker side of the movement, men who identify as women have threatened violence against women who deny them access to bathrooms or who refuse to date them. Lesbians in particular have been targeted for harassment by the trans activist crowd, who argue that all those lesbians need is some "girl d**k" to set them right. Some have even gone so far as to accuse women who tell men "no" of being "transphobes."

There is no world that exists where "trans women" and women both have bodily autonomy or the right to choose over our bodies. Either we women have the right to choose — including the right to say no – or we don't.

Because, much like gender, it's a binary choice.
