These Governors Are Petty Tyrants

I cannot fathom what it's like to hate a politician so much that I would intentionally hurt other people in a weak, virtue signaling attempt to stick it to said politician. Then again, I am not a Democrat.

But for those who are, their vitriolic hatred of President Trump — bordering on pathological — is the driving force behind everything they do. The problem with this is, while President Trump lives rent-free in their heads, their performative acts of resistance are like the buzzing of flies to President Trump, if that.

It's like that scene from "Mad Men" where Don Draper says, "I don't think about you at all." Trump is Don Draper here, and Democrats are too blind to see it.

Parents in several states — all of them with Democrat governors — should also be angry at how the supposed party of tolerance and compassion is hurting their children and denying them educational opportunities.

They're all blocking the Trump federal scholarship program, which would give much-needed money to students to use for myriad reasons.

Here in Wisconsin, where Gov. Tony Evers was literally the head of the state's Department of Public Instruction (DPI), is one of those petty tyrants. He's refusing the grants because he hates Trump, to the detriment of Wisconsin students — a third of whom cannot read on grade level.

In Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), black students who comprise a majority of the district, test at the bottom nationally in reading and math.

The most laughable part is Evers touted himself as the "education governor."

Then again, Evers is the same guy who wrote off those black students in MPS, essentially saying simply they'll never be able to read, so why bother trying to teach them?

As Decker asks, if schools aren't for teaching kids, what are they for?

The scholarships Evers is denying could go to tutoring, books, supplemental reading materials, and a slew of other education-related services that could help pull these kids out of illiteracy. Mike Rogers, the Republican running in Michigan, notes that kids who struggle in school have a very high likelihood of ending up in prison or on welfare.

It sure seems like Democrat governors across the nation do not care about that.

They're sticking it to Trump. But here's the problem: President Trump will leave office in 2029 and not give these petty tyrants a second thought.

But millions of children will have been denied these scholarships, and many of them will be condemned to a life of crime and poverty because Democrats thought it would send a message to a Republican president they don't like.

That's unforgivable.
