If the Left Cared About 'Systemic Racism,' They Wouldn't Still Idolize Margaret Sanger

I remember the adulation with which my undergrad professors talked about Margaret Sanger. You would have thought she was the second coming of Jesus, the way she saved women from the evil oppression of men. So imagine my surprise when my then-boyfriend told me the truth about Margaret Sanger: she was a raging eugenicist who wanted to use contraception and abortion to eradicate minorities.

You'd think the same people who scream about "systemic racism" every time a minority criminal in Chicago is arrested for a shooting or a robbery would be appalled at Sanger's open, blatant hatred. It's the literal definition of systemic racism: using a system to oppress and ultimately eliminate a minority group.

And Planned Parenthood is living out her dream. Black women abort at a rate about four times that of white women. "

"She wrote that black ministers should be used so word wouldn’t get out that the goal was to exterminate the Negro population," the post notes. So given this clear and well-documented racist history, why is The Washington Post still shilling for Sanger a century after she launched her dream to "exterminate the Negro population"?

Here's more:

Sanger’s mother, weakened by 11 births and seven miscarriages, had died at 50 of tuberculosis. Watching her mother suffer, and her own experience as a nurse, motivated Sanger to travel to Europe to study birth control methods and bring what she learned back home.

More than 400 women, some wheeling baby carriages, lined up outside the rented storefront at 46 Amboy St. in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn on Oct. 16, 1916, to pay 10 cents for pamphlets and instruction. The clinic, staffed by Sanger, her sister Ethel Byrne and friend Fania Mindell, distributed contraceptives, too.

The venture lasted some 10 days before police raided the premises, arrested the women working there and shut down the clinic. Sanger was sentenced to 30 days in the Queens County penitentiary, where, according to the Margaret Sanger Papers Project at New York University, she spent her time lecturing fellow inmates on birth control.

We all know why the adulation of Sanger continues, of course. In the Left's game of intersectionality, sex — or the unfettered ability to have sex without consequence — always comes first. It's the only "right" they consistently agree upon, even though it's not. That means killing tens of millions of unborn children not because of rape or incest or to "save the life of the mother," but to make sure women, and men, aren't held accountable for their actions.

But with the Left, you must look at not only what they say, but what they do. Lyndon B. Johnson's so-called "War on Poverty" set off an ideological nuclear bomb that obliterated the black family. Prior to the Johnson administration, roughly two-thirds of black children lived with two parents. By the 1990s, that number had fallen below 40 percent, and mother-only households were the norm.

What we saw was a rise in poverty, declines in educational gains, and rampant crime. And who are the victims of that crime, as well as most often the perpetrators? Young black males.

It's all connected, of course. Sanger wanted to "exterminate the Negro population," and the Left in general wants to abolish the nuclear family. These fetid ideologies have worked in tandem for the last six decades to slowly chip away at the foundation of a free and prosperous society.

But I digress. What I'd like — even though I know I'd never get it — is some ideological consistency from the Left. They say every officer-involved shooting, every bit of voter ID legislation, any bill that vows to crack down on crime is "systemic racism." They've spent the past three years yelling about a non-existent "genocide" in Gaza, too. All while turning a blind eye to the genocide of black children at our nation's abortion clinics.

And yet the WaPo holds up Sanger as a hero. So maybe the next time you hear the media lecture us on "systemic racism" or anything else, take it with a large grain of salt. And when they attack Republicans as being "racist," remember that their boos mean nothing. We've seen what makes them cheer.
