Singer Demi Lovato terrified fans Tuesday when TMZ reported that she had been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital for a heroin overdose. Hours later, we got great news. She was awake and in stable condition and is now recovering with family by her side.
Lovato has been very candid about her series of mental health issues. At the Democratic National Convention in 2016, Lovato gave an emotional speech about her struggles with bipolar disorder and anxiety which in the past have placed her in treatment centers. Still, she said she was proof you can still live a normal life.
“I stand here today as proof that you can live a normal and empowered life with mental illness," she said on the DNC stage.
Last March, Lovato celebrated six years of sobriety. Four weeks ago, however, she revealed she had had a relapse via a new song called, "Sober."
Her fellow artists tweeted words of support after Tuesday's scare.
