(CNN) – Tim Pawlenty's presidential campaign is upping its ante.

Hours before the deadline for the campaigns to officially file their second quarter fundraising numbers with the Federal Election Commission, a source confirms to CNN that the former Minnesota governor will report bringing in $4.5 million over the past three months. That's about $300,000 more than the campaign reported on July 1, at the end of the second quarter.

The campaign will also report having $2 million cash on hand, with most of which is for use in the primaries and caucuses, and $600,000 for use in the general election, if he advances past the nominating process.
