Perry claims prayer event is apolitical

Rick Perry is giving few interviews on his political plans, but he did talk take to Christian radio today to promote a Houston prayer rally next month he's helping to organize.

The Texas governor could be a presidential candidate by then, but he argued to hosts Tony Perkins and Tim Wildmon that the event was solely about faith.

"The event is not political, the event is not about promoting an organization it’s not some fancy promotional event," Perry said. "This is simply people calling out to God."
