Panetta Confirmed As Defense Secretary
In a rare moment of bipartisan agreement, the Senate today voted unanimously to confirm CIA chief Leon Panetta to be the next Defense secretary.

Panetta, who sailed through his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee earlier this month, will succeed Robert Gates at the Pentagon July 1 during a particularly crucial time for the Defense Department both at home and overseas.
