Glenn Beck Launches Subscription Site

Fox News firebrand Glenn Beck plans a novel pay-to-view system for his new website venture, GBTV, after he leaves Fox on June 30. Subscriptions to the site, which will run Beck’s own “Glenn Beck” show alongside scripted and unscripted content, will cost between $5 and $10 a month, reports The New York Times.

Beck’s gamble is based on the expectation that people will increasingly shift to viewing Web programming through their televisions. It is an untested move, and Beck has acknowledged the risks: “I think we might be a little early. But I’d rather be ahead of the pack than part of it.”
