The final Politico/George Washington University Battleground Poll before voting Nov. 2 shows the GOP with a 14-point edge among independents — the group largely responsible for the Obama/Democratic wave two years ago — and a five-point lead in the bellwether generic ballot matchup. "A staggering number of voters have made a clear judgment that the policies of President Obama and the Congressional Democrats have failed," GOP pollster Ed Goeas, who partners with Democrat Celinda Lake to produce the battleground polls, wrote for Politico.
