John Barrow and President Obama: The Wrong Pairing For Georgia

Like most Americans, I was glued to the TV this past weekend watching the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. The Masters is a tradition unlike any other, but unfortunately Augusta’s congressman is a Democrat like every other. There may be no better example of a politician who will say one thing and do another than Congressman John Barrow. He tells voters he has stood up to Nancy Pelosi after voting for her for Speaker of the House twice. He claims to be an independent voice but brags about working ‘hand-in-hand’ with Barack Obama. While Barrow likes to call himself a moderate, he has joined with Washington liberals to vote for billions in bailouts, the failed trillion-dollar stimulus and against repealing President Obama’s catastrophic healthcare takeover.

John Barrow’s two-faced approach caused the Augusta Chronicle to call him “perhaps the most shameless, duplicitous, self-serving politician of his era.”

To illustrate how Barrow and Obama are the wrong pairing for Georgia families the NRCC released a TV ad, billboard and website (www.barrowobama.com), to highlight Barrow’s blind support for Obama’s spending, taxing and regulating addiction. What makes this recent ad campaign really unique is the fact the billboard was placed a few miles from the Masters and the TV ad was played during the Masters.

If it weren’t bad enough that Barrow will have to run with President Obama at the top of his ticket, he is doing so in a district that is significantly worse than the one he was elected in. His home base of downtown Savannah has been removed and the PVI for the district went from D+1 to R+10.

While it’s no surprise that Obama endorsed John Barrow in 2008, what has been most shocking to Georgia families is Barrow’s enthusiastic support for Democrat policies like the failed stimulus and the government healthcare takeover. This is only the beginning of our campaign to ensure that Georgia taxpayers are aware of the consequences of another Barrow-Obama term in office. After nearly four years of crushing debt and big-government programs, it’s obvious that Obama and Barrow are the wrong pairing for Georgia families.
