Gilded Reframe – USA TODAY

  • We have to guess you had to rush this story to publish, for some reason.

Okay, time to call it: USA Today simply hates Caitlin Clark. We mean, after yesterday’s wild “Caitlin’s fouls = 1950s lynching of black people” episode, it was pretty clear, but this non-story blown up into a harsh report, only to be walked back, speaks plenty.

So the outlet had this damning “news” item that Ms. Clark skipped the Orange Carpet Event for the WNBA All-Star weekend to have her hair done back home in Iowa. We aren’t too sure how many people are concerned with this, but take their word for it - this is news!

But the temptation to write something scathing about the WNBA star was too much to resist. They should have resisted a bit longer. It turns out, Clark had a rather selfless reason for missing the glam event.

News Avoidance Syndrome – CBS NEWS

  • Yes, it is a complete mystery.

After the stabbings in New York City yesterday, the assailant was heard shouting “Alahu Akbar”. This cannot be chalked up to bigoted witnesses or Islamophobia, given this detail was confirmed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani during his presser about the attack.

That established, the vaunted news network CBS was seeking an alternative motive in the attack that involved a visibly Jewish individual. Going with “mental health issues may have been a factor” is just some sweet deflection by the network.

Hardest Hitting News – ASSOCIATED PRESS

  • If you were looking to generate sympathy, this was a surefire MISS.

At the AP, they found another affected group abroad victimized by the USAID money being cut off. The news syndicate found a group of trans individuals in Nepal who lost their jobs as aid workers and have since turned to prostitution.

It is said that in Nepal, trans individuals have few job opportunities, so we are supposed to feel bad that we are no longer giving them make-work careers. In the report, we also learn we had been doling out money so these workers could hand out lube and other products to sex workers for free, through USAID.

Reporting on The Mirror – (formerly) CBS NEWS

  • Wait, she was physically injured by being fired…?!?!

The accusations about CBS News having corrupted editorial stances will only continue now, as fired “60 Minutes” correspondent Cecilia Vega is out there spouting off claims that she was under pressure to alter stories and had been edited for various reasons. Let the hatred towards Bari Weiss get ramped up higher!

She also apparently has some lingering physical wounds from…we aren’t sure; clearing out her desk…?

Both Kinds Of Standards – CNN

  • So you say higher gas prices are a news item…today…?

Wolf Blitzer has come out with some data about gas prices today compared to where they sat at the start of the Iran war. Understand, he works at the network that was placing a gas price tracker on its web page until the prices plunged back to normal, and had it return when they spiked with news from the Strait of Hormuz. And then vanished again.

That graphic may be making a return, as Wolf was detailing how the numbers are cresting anew, and it brings up a question to our minds here at RFTH: Where was all of this attention to the gas pumps when Biden was overseeing higher prices, but without a war effort taking place?
