Legalized Press-titution – MS NOW

  • Could you BE any more excited about this protest?!

We were waiting for it, and boy did the man deliver. With the announcement of the third (uh, seriously with this?) No Kings protest this weekend, we were interested in just one facet: Would we be treated to another round of over-exuberant reporting from Jacob Soboroff?

In case you forgot, Jake gave us one of our favorite visuals last fall when he excitedly ran up to a protester quixotically adorned in an inflatable pink uniform costume and conducted an interview by jamming his mic into the snout of the mythical beast.

Well, Jake did not disappoint, as he was out among the throngs, just as ebullient as expected, bursting with joy as he pestered people to come on camera with him…while they notably did not want to join in.

After all but forcing this woman to admit she is a government worker, he also prodded others who declined camera time, and then spoke to one guy who turned out to be an organizer for a labor union.

And despite all of the empty-headed people who could not explain why they were even protesting, a beaming Soboroff was just over the sun about the event:

Let's keep going just a little bit because I know, guys, you've got a show to do. But it's too important not to hear from people out on the streets.

In one of those instances where the press delivers a truly vexing report, we still linger on the time Dana Bash and her panel were swooning over Jack Smith and declaring how he was seriously intent on bringing down Donald Trump…based on the fact that he was seen buying a Subway footlong sandwich.

In a dose of similar journalism (we are being entirely charitable), if not lower, we have Politico’s Adam Wren declaring Rham Emmanuel poised for a serious presidential run based on…uh, based on…well, the way he eats a salad.

Dos Equis-pert Opinion – WASHINGTON POST

  • We are praying that you will recover from this.

At the Post, its religion reporter is here to tell us that Secretary Pete Hegseth is too religious. He has been opening things up at the Pentagon to make services and other forms of worship more available to members of the Department of War and military. We are told this is bad, while informing us that none of this is compulsory.

In her nearly two-thousand-word report, Michelle Boorstein clearly wrote her piece and then reached out for comment, as we see all manner of expert opinions on why this is bad, with a token one-paragraph allotment for Pentagon officials.

These experts consist of former military figures not impacted by the new policies, and groups that call for the separation of church and state. You know, balanced reporting, don’t you know.

DNC PR Firm – THE NEW YORK TIMES

  • “Holding truth to those in power” – Remember that phrase, Pete?!

In another example of pro-Dem “journalism,” but this one of a deflective nature, we have Peter Baker. He looks at the recent reports that Eric Swalwell could find himself under investigation over his involvement with Chinese intelligence; you know, kinda important junk for someone on the congressional intelligence committee.

Baker seems rather concerned – not that a politician could have improper contact with a hostile government, but how this could impact Swalwell's bid to be the next California governor.

We are trying to recall Peter expressing similar concerns when Donald Trump was being routinely investigated by the Biden DOJ. We are trying, but not succeeding.

Reporting on the Mirror – MS NOW

  • Do rats ever jump ONTO a sinking ship?

News came out today that after the divorce between NBC News and the former MSNBC, when cross-working staff had to choose one network or the other, Peter Alexander is jumping from the broadcast news division and will take on a new role at MS NOW.

As MS NOW continues juggling its lineup, Alexander will host an 11:00 am show, handle more breaking news events, and will even be involved in some sporting coverage.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – THE NEW YORK TIMES

  • It’s also very grey!

At The Times, they have a copy of some of the initial plans for the planned White House ballroom. It seems that the main problem is that the architects and designers did not submit their plans for approval to The New York Times.

Three of their design experts looked over the sketches and came up with problems they found, such as the roof being too big (uh…what?!) and the facade being marked as “very tall.”

To be fair, if we saw the Times come out with glowing praise for the planned work, THEN we’d have been surprised.
