Righteous DEFIANCE!

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

It will be a picture that is as memorable as the towers coming down on 9/11, the flag being raised on Iwo Jima or any of the other most iconic images in global history.

A president who, while fighting for the welfare of his nation, takes literal incoming, who is told to stay down and stay safe, and who instead defies those instructions signals to the world that he is not only ok but more determined than ever. You see his mouth to the watching world, “Fight, fight, fight.”

The resilience of this human being is on display as blood oozes down his face, and he literally has to be forced to leave the arena—it is an image that will live for eternity.

The reasons why this image is so powerful are all connected to how it came to be.

When one takes the time to examine the circumstances, one has to remark on the astounding cycle of events that occurs. Why would someone who had easily one of the most pleasurable futures and easy lives laid out for him be fighting for his life on a stage on a sweltering summer in a Pennsylvania farm field?

After all, this man had already served one term, secured his legacy in history, and done all that he could to make the country he loved better. Before that, he had beaten the odds to win a contested election. In doing so, he has done nothing but lose personal wealth, relational capital, and the peace and quiet of living life in the private sector. He has raised his children, achieved maximized success, and achieved fame beyond fame.

Since becoming president in his first term, his personal wealth has been the only thing in history to go down. All other presidents ended up more wealthy after the White House. Before becoming president, he was already on the A-list with Hollywood, Wall Street, and the media and entertainment worlds. Other Presidents have used the presidency to ink Netflix deals, book offers, and podcasts. Trump had all that before — even owning a show with the word “Celebrity” in the title.

But it’s not just the wealth and status that he’s lost. Corrupt forces rigged two elections to try and stop him; they rigged court cases out of whole cloth fabrications, they literally charged him with made-up crimes, and allowed people to lay charges against him that even the people making the claims couldn’t remember happening.

Politically motivated prosecutors landed phony convictions and tried to bankrupt him blind.

They tried to stop him socially and failed. They tried to stop him politically and failed. They tried to stop him judicially and failed. They tried to stop him financially and failed. They tried to brand him as a con man, a cancer and a convict and failed at all three.

For the uninitiated, this has been the Marxist/Alinsky playbook to a tee. The problem is that the evildoers have failed so miserably at every turn that they have turned to deeper and deeper extremes to justify taking the next step each step of the way.

For the initiated, like Tucker Carlson, Bernard Kerik, and other students of global history, some could see what the next logical step would consist of—an actual attempt on his life.

Joy Reid of MSNBC, after the debate in which her candidate resembled more a vegetable than an actual president, made repeated social media pleas to “stop Hitler” at whatever cost necessary.

Kamala Harris has repeatedly claimed that Trump was such a danger that he must be stopped by any means necessary.

Since the debate, the sitting president has said that Trump needs to be “put in a bullseye.”

And for what?

Why should a man with his success, longevity, and legacy be wiping blood from his face and being shielded by a human fort when he could be doing so many other things that summer evening?

The answer came with the arm that shot to the sky from the middle of that huddle, the fist clenched in righteous determination, and the message accompanying it.

Righteous defiance in the face of wickedness!

President Donald Trump is willing to fight on at the risk of losing his life for the idea of what America is—a God-blessed sanctuary of freedom and opportunity for any who work hard, love freedom, and their fellow man.

The morning following that fateful summer evening, the President pledged to remain defiant in the face of wickedness and to pray for the strength to be resilient in his faith!

That raised arm that, through an optical illusion, appears to show Trump holding the strings flying the American flag above him resembles that other icon—the tireless Statue of Liberty, where the arms of freedom never falter and never fail.

That same heart beats inside the man who wants to once again rescue this exceptional American experiment and preserve her for those who come behind.

And for that commitment and desire, Mr. President, a grateful nation prays with you today that God protects you and somberly prays with you for a new season of peace and prosperity in the land we share and love—righteously defiant against the evil that would take her down.

GOD BLESS you, President Trump!
