Race to the Bottom – DEADSPIN

The saga of the site Deadspin trying to accuse a very young football fan of racism for having his face painted in his favorite team's colors has become even worse for the site. Writer Carron Phillips had alleged the tyke was in blackface (he was not), but also was racist for wearing a Native American headdress.

Now, more information has emerged that further shames Carron's ridiculous race-baiting. We have now seen that the young boy is himself a Native American. This is as bad as it can get for a supposed news source.

Presentation Paradox – FORBES

  • Imagine if Dylan were successful – that might warrant receiving TWO awards!

Forbes has come out with its annual list "30 Under 30," celebrating young entrepreneurs and other business names who had a good year. Making this list is Dylan Mulvaney, who is these days required to be included in just about any awards presentation, no matter how little sense it makes.

Along with being "Woman of the Year," for some reason, Forbes is also celebrating Dylan's business prowess, despite being the force behind Bud Light becoming the biggest corporate failure story of the year.

First Amendment Strike Force – DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

  • Did the DOJ just obtain a warrant for…the internet?!

In August, we saw there was a warrant obtained by Jack Smith to look into matters concerning Donald Trump's Twitter account. The warrant was heavily redacted at the time, but now we are seeing how vast and pernicious this investigation has been permitted to become.

Let's reflect for just a moment on how we keep hearing accusations that Trump will be a power-mad authoritarian. It has now been learned that Smith's warrant not only concerns Trump's tweeted content but also permits them to look into any people who "liked" or retweeted Trump's post. This is a dystopian police state nightmare in the making.

Pathological Media Amnesia – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Some disinvites are more equal than others.

There has been a report coming out that the Biden Administration has quietly composed a blacklist of sorts regarding the annual White House Christmas parties. A number of notably challenging news outlets have stated how they are not being included in either of the bashes for television and print media.

What is notable is the lack of collective outrage heard from journalists about how this represents hostility toward the press. It was remarked how during the Trump years there was a similar exclusion witnessed, specifically concerning April Ryan, and that there was a notable howl of disapproval from the press corps. Curtis Houck of Newsbusters provided us with a remembrance of the squabbling then that is not being heard today.

Reporting on the Mirror – MSNBC

In a dose of Thanksgiving leftovers, there was this little side dish from last week we always meant to cover. Rachel Maddow is out hawking her latest book release, some tome about the past rise of fascism and how it portends to Trump becoming the second-coming of Hitler, or some such similar unremarkable claim. She sat with her MSNBC cohort Chris Hayes to discuss this and other heavily weighted matters, and what is striking is just how serious, and grave, and full of gravitas these two intellectual titans actually are – unless you actually listen to their words.

It is striking that these two pose as wise and urbane minds, but their palaver is downright embarrassing:

HAYES: “If I had the NBA draft of like fascist autocrats, and I was like running them through you know the paces, like I don’t know in the end what makes it work for someone and not for someone else.”

MADDOW: “This is a very unpopular opinion, but I do not believe that the leader matters. You’ve got like, Franco was Napoleon-sized, right? Like Hitler was a dork. Right? Mussolini was a journalist and a socialist. Like there’s nothing about these guys that is inherently, that transformed those countries against their will. Those countries were subject to an anti-democratic, pro-authoritarian movement that had skills and the people were ready to do it.”

Like, we are not sure how anyone takes either of these, like, pundits seriously. Right?!
