  • Okay, okay – we’ll bow to your climate god(dess).

In the aftermath of the Maui wildfire catastrophe, as officials continue to locate and tabulate the death toll, some stunted mooks want to insist that this calamity was a direct result of climate change. Because, as we all know, there were never wildfires witnessed...before the hotness, or something. The death toll was not the result of a failed warning system, a fire department suspending fighting a blaze it said was 100% contained, water management not diverting a supply to battle the blaze, nor generations of abandoned crop lands that provided fuel for the conflagration – nope, it was global warming, claim a few loud voices on social media.

But for some reason, ABC News decided that these misguided cranks are a force to respect, and as such – following complaints – the outlet altered its headline that had dismissed the idea of climate contributing to this issue.

Credit should be given for this report on the Maui fires, as CBS News does actually do some investigative work looking into the faults behind this tragedy and pointing out the systemic failures leading to the death toll. But still, Ms. Nora O’Donnell delivers a bit of a perplexing explanation herself.

In addressing perhaps the biggest issue contributing to the loss of life – that being the evacuation warning system not alerting residents to evacuate the dangerous area – she gives a confounding report. We are not sure how an alarm can “ring silent,” yet that is what seemingly transpired.

Pathological Media Amnesia – MSNBC

Word of warning: This entry is concerning the Trump indictments, just in case a reader is unaware of this development. That is, any and all of the FOUR indictments Trump is facing, as well as the ceaseless coverage they have all received, including the absolutely vital LIVE footage of Trump commuting to the airport...and boarding his plane...and the plane lifting off...and then the plane landing in the city where he entered his plea.

Andrea Mitchell was speaking with Peter Baker from The New York Times about an issue with these indictment reports; how exactly do they, as reporters, express to the people the gravity of these stories that they have been incapable of shutting up about for a day for the majority of this calendar year??? 

ANDREA MITCHELL: Peter Baker, how do Trump opponents, Republican opponents as well as White House opponents, how do they break through indictment fatigue?

PETER BAKER: Yeah. We are in this bizarre moment, of course, where the unprecedented has become routine. Right? We have seen this four times already and there's no question that the country has kind of gotten oddly accustom to it. It's, you know, another week, another indictment. Oh here we go. And I think that there is a fatigue factor at least the consultants tell us that they have seen, one consultant who does focus groups told me he hears voters -- for them, it's white noise. They can't really make a distinction between Jack Smith and Fani Willis and all these different cases. And they kind of tune it out.

Oh dear, if only there was a solution to the press flooding the zone with incessant indictment coverage. Alas...

Legalized Press-titution – CNN / MSNBC

It was recently announced that CNN has hired yet another Biden administration official to serve as an on-air commentator. Jamaal Simmons, former deputy assistant to President Biden and communications director to Vice President Harris, has been hired by the network. This comes just a couple of weeks after the same network hired another comms official from the same administration, Kate Bedingfield.

While former administrations have commonly seen figures move on to work in media after serving in the White House, this is a stark development to see so many from an active presidency, especially with a looming election on the horizon.

Journalism ethics? Meh, that’s some old school type of concern, right there.
