Democratic Custodial Services – WASHINGTON POST

  • Announcement: Any criminal activity during drug addiction is exonerated!

As the country continues to laugh over the Hunter Biden excusal of illegal actions, the press continues to be a laughingstock. Matt Viser – who you may recall was awarded for his fawning coverage of President Biden, using details from Hunter’s laptop – is back with his full familial support of the Bidens.

In light of the new revelation that President Jose Biden was actually in the room as Hunter was negotiating payouts from foreign nationals (after the president constantly insisted having no knowledge whatsoever of what his son had been up to), Viser gets this comment from Hunter’s lawyer regarding this news:

The DOJ investigation covered a period that was a time of turmoil and addiction for my client. Any verifiable words or actions of my client, in the midst of a horrible addiction, are solely his own and have no connection to anyone in his family.

Viser has no follow-up coverage to offer and no critical words, as he freely offers this wan explanation from Hunter’s representation. So there you have it; if you were addicted to serious illegal drug activity, then nothing you did during that period counts!

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – AXIOS

  • "We keep insisting this is the case, so it must be true."

We are just going to have to begin declaring that this country is banning movies. It is the only way to combat this ongoing wave of idiocy/lies from the press regarding the non-existent “book bans.”

Axios is continuing this impacted lie that restricting inappropriate material from younger grade school children means that books are being banned, so any movie that is Rated R – even though it is still playing in theaters – is, therefore, considered to be “banned.”

Body Checking the Fact-Checkers – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • Here is what the truth detectors are covering while ignoring President Biden’s wrongness.

USA TODAYConfirmed that a video claiming to show a UFO landing is actually footage of a theme park ride lit up at night.

FACT-CHECK.orgCorrected the claim Kansas schools are inspecting female genitalia to ensure trans athletes are not competing in sports.

REUTERSDebunks claim Ron DeSantis became enraged to learn his daughters were watching the Disney film “Frozen” on a regular basis.

POLITIFACTEstablished that country singer Miranda Lambert is not selling “Belly Melt Kits.”

SNOPESDeclares it is FALSE that Sweden has officially declared sex to be a competitive sport.

FULL-FACT.orgMakes the bold declaration that the world is in fact spherical, not flat.

LEAD STORIES – A statue of a unisex individual was not recently unveiled at Oxford, it has been on display in other cities in Europe for about six years already.

Race to the Bottom – USA TODAY

Over at USA Today, sports writer Mike Freeman has been elevated to the post of Race and Inequality Editor. This, we have to assume, is a relatively easy beat to work, as you either report on instances of racism taking place or – as is displayed here – simply invent cases of racism in order to generate work for yourself.

Freeman saw an interview where Governor Ron DeSantis was discussing sports, and when he referred to basketball players and their highly specialized physiques he stated they were “freaks of nature.” For almost anyone, this is a very common cliché in sports to describe those with supreme athletic gifts, but the eagle-eyed Freeman (hope that was not racist!) declared this to be a rather blatant use of intolerant language:

Ron DeSantis isn’t telling the truth. He knows when he uses a racist dog whistle in speaking about basketball players − not a dog whistle actually, a bullhorn … wait, not a bullhorn, stadium speakers − that he’s being purposefully misleading.

Now, we here at "Riffed from the Headlines" are going to make a strong declaration ourselves: Using “freak of Nature” is not a case of using racist terminology. We say this boldly because there are literally dozens of examples of USA Today employing this very same term, in reference to POC athletes.

Pre-Written Field Reports – NBC NEWS

The ongoing plight of the fraudulent congressional career of George Santos continues to deliver fodder for the press. Remember now, his announced arrest was conveniently timed to be made just hours ahead of the release of the findings from the House Oversight Committee of the investigations into the Biden bribery clan. This gave the press cover to avoid reporting on that scandal.

The latest had the press chomping to get information about who was responsible for seeing Santos released from jail. After all, his bail was $500,000, so clearly some big-money financiers or Republican operatives were responsible for getting him sprung. NBC News proudly declares they were part of the group of news outlets pressuring the courts to release this information, and the court ended up complying.

The result was hardly explosive, as we get delivered the rather tepid headline that it was simply his family who secured bail for Santos.
