Conservatives Need to Be Unashamedly America First

With July 4th approaching closely, Americans look to their inner patriot to reflect on why they are proud to be an American in celebrating our independence from Great Britain. With most excited about spending the holiday with friends, family, and colleagues, it is hard to deny that this is the most patriotic day of the year. In the past few months, however, many on the left have questioned why any American should be proud of their country with the state it’s currently in, reflecting on the Uvalde massacre and the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade. It seems as if progressives will look for any reason they can to despise the country that has given them everything while attempting to make conservatives feel guilty for their belief systems being the reason The United States is on the decline in their eyes. Unfortunately, this is no surprise, but conservatives must finally embrace the hate and be proud of their values.

Conservatives are simply in a battle of whims regarding appealing to the everyday American. While Republicans are working to fight inflation, higher gas prices, and an authoritarian administration, Democrats continue to call for riots in the streets for the sake of political intimidation. The same side of the political spectrum currently holding a movie spectacle through the January 6th Committee hearings so they can imprison their political opponents has the unmitigated gall to virtue signal morality to conservatives. At the same juncture, progressive congresswomen such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Maxine Waters are calling for uprisings against the most stable branch of our government in the Supreme Court of The United States.

The fear-mongering calls to both violence and action work, however. After the overturning of Roe v. Wade, it is predicted that Democrats will now be more likely to vote come the 2022 elections than Republicans by a wide margin. For some reason, whenever conservatives garner the slightest bit of a victory, they are either virtue signaled to the point of feeling guilty about their beliefs or take the win and become complacent.

There will be talking heads on the mainstream television networks that will prop up conservatives who have caved on their value systems, such as Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and Lisa Murkowski. Both the left and the media want the Republican Party to be as weak and floundering as these squish moderates so the Democratic Party can have overwhelming victory both on political issues and on the ground.

On abortion, regardless if it is a polarizing issue or not, now is not the time for conservatives to back down from their pro-life stances. The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on the Dobbs court case and 5-4 to overturn Roe v. Wade. The left will attempt to make this decision to be anti-democracy, anti-woman, and anti-life, and anyone who celebrates it is simply an evil fascist. Republicans have got to take those insults in stride and celebrate the victories for life and states’ rights not being overruled for the sake of an unprotected right.

The same precedent goes for guns. The left has tried to make the NRA, the GOP, and the Republican-ran state government of Texas the reason that a massacre cost children their lives in Uvalde at the hands of a gunman. Even the President did not allow 24 hours to pass before calling out the ‘gun lobby’ as a scapegoat for the murders. This callout led to 12 GOP Senators voting to take 2nd Amendment rights away from Americans because the progressive left and their party made our legislators feel bad.

If there is any advice that conservatives need to be taking right now, it is to be unashamed, unabashed, and proud America First advocates. This sense of nationalist patriotism helps Republicans win in every election they have. Whether it was Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, the 2010 Tea Party Movement, or the current trend of a red wave in 2022, Republicans win when they are proud of their ideology.

Americans enjoy ideologies firm in their values, no matter what they are. Republicans have learned to be proud of their party and what it stands for, regardless of the criticism they might receive due to it. Be proudly anti-war, pro-life, pro-gun, and patriotically American.

There is nothing morally wrong with any of those sentiments, and many in the GOP have started realizing it.
