Biden's Supreme Shame

This week, a leftist activist — inspired by an unprecedented leak at the Supreme Court of an opinion that would return abortion to the states — made his way from California to a street near the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. He was armed with a knife, gun, pepper spray, rope, hiking boots and burglary tools. Thank God he was caught and arrested. While in custody, he admitted to a plot to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh and harm his family. 

These facts should shake anyone who truly cares about democracy, the rule of law and the United States to the core. The assassination of a Supreme Court Justice would be a historical abomination and change the country forever. With political tension across the country at heated levels, the consequences or response to such horrific action could be grave and quickly spiral out of control. 

In this dangerous moment, the President of the United States has an obligation to stand up to the mob, calm tensions and thoroughly condemn violent behavior or intimidation of Supreme Court Justices.

Not surprisingly, and in typical fashion, President Joe Biden has failed to carry out this duty. In fact, he's made matters much worse by encouraging leftists to descend on the homes of justices, breaking the law. Coincidently, the Department of Justice has been looking the other way. The FBI hasn't made any arrests. 

"Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both," 18 U.S. Code § 1507 on picketing or parading states. 

Although despicable, Biden's behavior is entirely predictable. 

When Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was hospitalized in March, Biden failed to issue a statement. Short remarks on the situation came from his press secretary only after being prompted by a reporter. Thirty years ago, Biden led the "high-tech lynching" against Thomas as the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. 

Now, Biden has refused to directly and forcefully condemn the assassination attempt against Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Unforgivably, he sent activists to his home. 

When Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died in September 2020, President Donald Trump didn't gloat or celebrate. Instead, he issued multiple statements of empathy and treated her long career — despite their political differences — with respect. 

"Renowned for her brilliant mind and her powerful dissents at the Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg demonstrated that one can disagree without being disagreeable toward one's colleagues or different points of view," Trump said about Justice Ginsburg. "She led an amazing life, what else can you say? She was an amazing woman — whether you agreed or not — she was an amazing woman who led an amazing life." 

Biden's attitude toward conservative justices on the Supreme Court is not only shameful but classless and far from "unifying" as he promised to get elected.
