Foreign Policy Review: Biden's Disastrous First Year at the Helm

Joe Biden is a president in denial. As Americans suffer with record-breaking inflation, skyrocketing gas prices and empty store shelves, he claimed in a recent press conference to have done more in his first year than any other president in history. However, he has done more than any other president to run America into the ground. Biden is blind to the domestic disasters created by his socialist policies, and even more so to his inexcusable foreign policy blunders.

In just one year, Biden has allowed our country to be outmaneuvered on the world stage by Communist China and Russia, to become a laughingstock in the eyes of international terrorist organizations and to be ridiculed by Iran and North Korea. His "leadership" in foreign policy has made the United States a punching bag for bad actors worldwide.

During the Democrat Party's primaries and the general election, Biden claimed to be the most experienced candidate in foreign policy. He touted his 40 years in government, asserting it would make him the best-prepared foreign policy president America ever had. However, longevity should never be confused with competence. As Barack Obama's former defense secretary, Robert Gates, stated, Biden has "been wrong on nearly every foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades." Candidate Biden was like an unemployed football coach who claims he should be hired because he has the worst record in the NFL.

A recent Quinnipiac Poll showed Biden's approval rating on foreign policy matters to be a puny 35%, one of the worst ratings since former President Jimmy Carter let Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini make a fool of him and the United States during the Iran hostage crisis of 1979. Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un and Ali Khamenei would struggle to score lower on foreign policy in the eyes of Americans than our own president. The wonder is not that Biden's rating is so low but that 35% actually approve of his incompetence, blunders and ineptitude in foreign policy. Who are these people?

When it comes to making Americans safe from terrorism, Biden's ill-conceived, haphazard bug out from Afghanistan erased any credibility the U.S. had in the eyes of international terrorist organizations. His plan to combat terrorists from "over the horizon" is laughable. In fact, it is an open invitation to terrorists.

Russia's military buildup in Ukraine is a major foreign policy test for Biden -- a test he is flunking badly. Putin has outmaneuvered Biden at every turn and thumbed his nose at threats of sanctions. If Ukraine is counting on the U.S. to prevent an invasion by Russia, God help them.

Iran continues to make progress toward becoming a nuclear-equipped nation and, like Putin, Khamenei thumbs his nose at both the threat and the reality of economic sanctions. Kim continues North Korea's aggressive actions and words aimed directly at the U.S., and Biden has done nothing to back the tyrannical pipsqueak down.

Biden's incompetence is encouraging bad actors on the world stage, but nowhere is his ineptitude more obvious than in his dealings with Communist China. Every day Biden is in office, the People's Republic of China makes progress toward world domination by continually building its military and using its Belt and Road Initiative to buy influence and control in mineral-rich third-world countries such as Cuba. While Biden fiddles like Nero as Rome burned, the PRC is using its infrastructure program to transform Cuba into a nuclear-armed military base 90 miles off the coast of Florida. Biden's response: nothing.

His foreign policy grade after one year in office: F-minus.
