After VA Elections, Democrats Heard the Message. They Just Don’t Care.

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

On November 2nd, Conservatives across the country celebrated as we watched Republicans sweep the top three statewide offices in Virginia, among several other shocking victories on election night. This was a resounding defeat of Democrats’ radical, progressive agenda and Americans delivered their message loud and clear: The Democrats have radicalized and pushed too far with their agenda. Despite clear warning signs that Democratic politicians are out of touch with the average American and focused only on the elites in the weeks leading up to these elections, the usual suspects at CNN and MSNBC blamed the results on racism and privilege, all while denying any wrongdoing by the Democrats. Instead, they praised the Democrats’ messaging and insisted they need to double down on their progressive, failing platform.

Certainly, many media types on the Progressive left haven’t gotten the message about how unpopular their agenda truly is with Americans, but I can assure you that President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi know exactly what is coming in 2022 – a red wave. But instead of listening and adjusting their agenda, they are doubling down and will stop at nothing to pass as many progressive, liberal wish list items as they can before relinquishing the levers of power. While many Conservatives seem to be content to declare victory, there is still much more work left to do to stop the Democrats from radicalizing America and getting individuals addicted to big government.

What evidence is there to support this? Look no further than Pelosi’s first press conference after the elections. When asked about the so-called bipartisan infrastructure bill and the so-called Build Back Better Act just two days after stunning Democratic defeats, Speaker Pelosi emphatically said, “we’re going to pass both bills,” despite the clear message sent from voters rejecting this radical agenda.

The following day, 13 House Republicans voted for the $1.2 trillion infrastructure package, of which only $110 billion actually goes toward infrastructure. If all Republicans had voted against the bill, alongside the 6 Democrats who also voted against the package, the vote would have failed. Mark my words, Republicans can’t afford to rest on the laurels of the victories we witnessed and get comfortable. If we do, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer will change America as we know it.

Democrats will make every effort to pass their major progressive agenda items before the 2022 midterms. Now that the House has passed the largest social spending expansion since the Great Society, next on the docket will be their continued effort to make it easier to cheat in elections. Even though they’ve already failed to pass legislation on this multiple times, they will not stop pushing. What is worrisome is they’re getting closer – with Republican help. For example, recently, Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski voted for H.R. 4, which changes voting criteria. This is not acceptable. Republicans must stand firm in this effort, or they can kiss honest and fair elections, and Republican victories goodbye.

After they change the way we vote, Democrats will move to solidify their majority by making Washington, D.C. a state. Democrats often talk about how they just want to give the citizens of Washington, D.C. the right to representation in Congress, but what they really want is another two guaranteed seats in the Senate. Yet another way the Democrats hope to radicalize America and change the foundation of democracy that our Founding Fathers laid down for us.

If Democrats just want representation for the citizens of Washington D.C., then they would support a plan proposed by Republicans that actually follows precedent. In 1835, the part of the district that was originally taken from Virginia that created the District of Columbia was ceded back to Virginia when legislators realized the land there was unnecessary. Republicans’ plan would retain a federal district containing the Capitol, the White House and the national mall, and retrocede the rest of the district back to Maryland.

If this plan was adopted, the citizens of Washington, D.C. would have all the rights that Democrats claim they support, but by doing it this way, Democrats wouldn’t have an additional two Senate seats, so they don’t support it. Make no mistake, this is an obvious power play by Democrats, and they will do all they can to make it happen while they still can. Congressional Republicans cannot allow themselves to be bullied into voting for this plan.

These examples are just the tip of the iceberg. Democrats will do all they can to make sure police departments are defunded, the right to religious liberty is significantly curtailed, open borders become commonplace, energy sectors are destroyed, and much more, which I detail in my new bookRadical Nation: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s Dangerous plan for America. Sure, the victories we witnessed this November were promising and provide optimism for 2022, but they won’t mean anything if Democrats completely remake America in the meantime and implement policies that would make America a radical nation.
